Welcome to our Saturday School

The Saturday school at Al-Baqir Centre aims to provide a unique and transformative six-module course for young Muslim teenagers over a period of three years. The primary objective of the course is to instil a solid foundation of obligatory knowledge for every Muslim (Fard al-Ayn) while fostering a genuine and profound love for Islam. This objective is pursued within a relaxed, comfortable, and engaging environment that encourages open dialogue and critical thinking.

The school strives to bridge the gap between traditional Islamic teachings and the contemporary world by presenting the material in a manner that is relevant and comprehensible in today's context. By employing modern teaching methodologies, the school aims to make the content accessible and relatable, ensuring that students can seamlessly integrate their faith into their lives.

The six modules offered—Tafsir, Sirah, Fiqh, Aqidah, Islamic History and Adab — are part of a three-year program meticulously designed for young Muslim teenagers. This progressive program features carefully curated topics and subjects to be taught each year, ensuring a gradual and comprehensive learning journey.

The Tafsir module offers an opportunity for students to explore the depth and meanings of the Quran, fostering a more profound connection to the Holy Qur’an. In Fiqh, students are taken through absolute essentials of purification and salah by expert teachers so that students are sure of the validity of their prayer and understand what breaks the prayer. We will often discuss what is halal and haram in Islam beyond what we clearly know within the realm of worship. The Aqidah module delves into the fundamental beliefs of Islam in accordance with the first generation of Muslims and those who followed in their footsteps. The Sirah module paints a vivid picture of the life and teachings of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, serving as a role model for students to emulate in their own lives. The Islamic History module takes students on a journey through centuries of Islamic civilization, exploring the events, personalities, and teachings that shaped the global Muslim community. The Adab module guides students through Imam Al-Ghazali’s “Ayyuhal Walad”, emphasising spiritual development, ethical conduct, and sincere practice of knowledge in daily life.

In addition to its comprehensive six-module course, the Saturday school at Al-Baqir Centre enriches the educational experience by offering workshops and organising trips. These supplementary activities are strategically designed to complement the core curriculum and further engage students in their learning journey.
